Sofa and Chair Treatment

Upholstery care that starts with a fastness test, not a guess

Sofas, dining chairs and fabric-covered stools treated with the seams, arms and cushions all considered, not just the visible seat.

Home

The promise

Furniture in daily use tends to show its wear first in the seat cushions and arms, the places hands and bodies touch most. This visit addresses those areas along with the crevices where dust collects unseen, with a colour-fastness check done first so the fabric's response is known before any product is used on a visible surface.

The problem

A sofa used daily by a household with children or animals accumulates more than surface dust — food residue, pet dander, and general contact oils build up in the fabric weave over time. Vacuuming reaches the top layer but rarely the crevices between cushions and frame, where a surprising amount of material tends to gather.

The solution

Work begins with a colour-fastness test in a concealed area — the underside of a cushion or the back of an arm — so any product used is confirmed suitable for that specific fabric before treatment moves to visible surfaces. From there, the seat, back, arms and crevices are each addressed, with cushions treated on both sides where the covering allows.

A deodorising finish appropriate to the fabric type closes out the visit, chosen to suit the material rather than applied uniformly across every job.

The experience

Testing

A concealed-area fastness check before anything visible is treated.

Treatment

Seat, back, arms and crevices, cushions turned where possible.

Finish

A fabric-appropriate deodorising step to close the visit.

The investment

¥15,400

This covers one three-seat sofa plus two chairs across a visit of two to three hours, including cushion treatment on both sides and a deodorising finish suited to the fabric. No separate charge applies for the fastness test.

  • · One three-seat sofa plus two chairs
  • · Two to three-hour visit
  • · Cushion treatment on both sides
  • · Fabric-appropriate deodorising finish

The proof

Cotton and linen upholstery generally dries within three to five hours under this method, per the method sheet on the philosophy page. Progress is tracked through the visible change in cushion tone and by the written note left describing the fabric and treatment applied.

The guarantee

If there is uncertainty about how a particular fabric will respond, a photo sent ahead of time is often enough to give a realistic sense of what to expect, with no obligation to proceed after that conversation.

Next steps

A message noting the number and type of pieces — sofa, chairs, stools — is enough to plan a visit and confirm timing.
